The Wanderings of Hurin".
'But you are late,' she said, 'too late. They are lost.'
'I know,' he said. 'But thou art not.'
'Almost,' she said. 'I am spent utterly. I shall go with the sun. They are lost.'...
The sun went down, and Morwen sighed and clasped his hand and was still; and Hurin knew that she had died.
I had a sister, Lalaith, or so I named her; and of her you put me in mind... But you are queenly, and as a golden tree; I would I had a sister so fair.’
...yet she knew that he had no love of the kind she wished. His mind and heart were elsewhere, by rivers in springs long past.
He holds me in awe, as were I both his mother and a queen.’
‘But this man is not Beren, even if he be both as fair and as brave. A doom lies on him; a dark doom. Enter not into it! And if you will, your love shall betray you to bitterness and death.
