Mid-August 1917. Tolkien is admitted to 'Brooklands', an officers' hospital in Cottingham Road, Hull, and for six weeks runs a fever. […] The hospital is visited by nuns of the order of the Sisters of Mercy who have a house in Hull. One of these, Mother Mary Michael, becomes a lifelong correspondent and friend, and godmother to Tolkien's second son, Michael.
Последние сведения о ней у Хаммонда-Скалл датируются 1945 г. (P. 293):
11 September 1945. Tolkien sends a postcard from Whitby, Yorkshire, to his grandson Michael George. While at Whitby Tolkien probably visits Mother Mary Michael of the Sisters of Mercy, now living there, who had befriended him in hospital in Hull in 1917.
На своем сайте в разделе Addenda and Corrigenda to Our Writings Хаммонд и Скалл добавляют, что биографическая информация про Мэри Майкл есть в книге:
Phil Mathison, Tolkien in East Yorkshire, 1917–1918 (2012), pp. 23–4. Там же на стр. 31 есть ее фото.
